Body Lift

When diet and exercise cannot adequately address the shape and contour of the body following significant weight loss, aging, or pregnancy, a Body Lift can remove excess skin and fat to create a smoother, firmer, and more proportionate silhouette. It restores balance across multiple areas of the body simultaneously, correcting sagging skin that cannot be resolved by any other means.

Performed by Dr. Adibfar at Elements Toronto, the procedure is fully customized — carefully planning the areas to be treated, which typically include the abdomen, flanks, back, buttocks, and thighs — to achieve natural, harmonious results. Excess skin is removed and the remaining tissue is tightened and repositioned. Liposuction is frequently incorporated to further refine the contours. Incisions are strategically placed in discreet locations — along the lower abdomen, in the groin, and beneath the buttocks — so they can be concealed under underwear or clothing.

Ideal candidates are men and women in good general health who have reached a stable weight, have significant loose or sagging skin, and hold realistic expectations about both the results and the permanent but well-hidden scars.

Recovery Timeline

Recovery varies from patient to patient, but the following timeline provides a general guideline:

  • First 48–72 hours: Light walking is encouraged to promote circulation, though the body should remain slightly elevated when resting to reduce swelling and discomfort. A compression garment is worn 24 hours a day.
  • Week 1: Light walking is encouraged to promote circulation. Swelling and discomfort are managed with medication as needed. Heavy lifting and strenuous activity must be avoided. The compression garment continues to be worn around the clock.
  • Weeks 2–6: Normal daily activities typically begin to return. The compression garment continues to be worn essentially full-time, with short breaks permitted once swelling has improved sufficiently.
  • Weeks 6–8: Many patients transition to daytime wear only or discontinue the garment altogether if healing is progressing well. Some patients may benefit from continued compression for up to 12 weeks, depending on the extent of surgery and the degree of residual swelling — Dr. Adibfar will advise at your follow-up appointment.
  • Beyond 8 weeks: Compression may be recommended for persistent swelling, particularly where extensive liposuction was performed, or if the patient finds continued support beneficial. Some patients wear the garment for up to 12 weeks depending on the extent of surgery.
  • 10–12 weeks: Heavy lifting and vigorous physical activity can generally be resumed by this point. Scars continue to mature and fade.
  • 6–12 months: Final results — a more toned, contoured silhouette — are fully apparent. Results are long-lasting with a maintained stable weight.

Dr. Adibfar will provide detailed post-operative instructions and monitor your healing closely throughout your recovery to ensure the best possible outcome.
