Thigh Lift

A Thigh Lift is a surgical procedure intended for patients who have lost tissue elasticity in the hip, thigh, or buttock area and desire smoother, tighter skin and more appealing lower-body contours. It is ideal for those who are satisfied with their overall proportions but require more improvement than diet or exercise can provide — particularly following weight loss. The procedure is often performed alongside a tummy tuck to comprehensively rejuvenate the lower body.

Dr. Adibfar will discuss the most appropriate approach based on the patient’s goals. Options range from a focused inner thigh lift to a combined thigh and buttock rejuvenation. Liposuction is used to remove unwanted tissue, enhance contours, and aid the lifting process. Incisions are placed in the hip area so that resulting scars can be concealed under underwear or a bikini.

The extent and location of incisions will depend on the areas being treated and the degree of correction required. For mild to moderate skin laxity, a horizontal incision is placed discreetly in the groin crease where the inner thigh meets the pubic area — easily concealed by most undergarments and swimwear. More significant correction, such as that often required following substantial weight loss, may call for a vertical incision running along the inner thigh from the groin toward the knee. In cases involving both horizontal and vertical skin excess, a combined T-shaped approach may be used. Dr. Adibfar will recommend the most appropriate technique based on your individual anatomy and goals.

Recovery Timeline

Recovery varies from patient to patient, but the following timeline provides a general guideline:

  • First 48–72 hours: Swelling and discomfort are expected. A compression garment is worn for support and to minimize swelling.
  • Week 1: Bruising and swelling begin to resolve. Light activity is encouraged, but strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided.
  • Weeks 2–4: Most patients return to work and daily activities. The compression garment continues to provide important support.
  • 6 weeks: Strenuous activity and exercise can typically be resumed at around the six-week mark, once cleared by Dr. Adibfar.
  • 6 months: Patients generally feel completely healed and comfortable by this stage. Scars continue to fade and the refined thigh contours are fully apparent.

Dr. Adibfar will provide detailed post-operative instructions and monitor your healing closely throughout your recovery to ensure the best possible outcome
