Cheek Bone Augmentation & Chin Reduction Surgery

Prominent jaw bones, especially at the mandibular angle, along with a square chin bone is considered a classically masculine feature. This is a contrast to a feminine “V-line” with features like a lower chin and a gradual jawline curve. The ideal goal of any feminizing surgery is to create this jawline; femininely small, smooth, sloping and curved rather than square.

Feminizing Jaw and Chin Contouring requires intra-oral approach surgical expertise. Dr. Adibfar is a Board Certified Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon and an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. He is currently the only surgeon in Canada holding both Certifications making him the leading expert in these types of procedures.

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons are internationally recognized. They treat many diseases, injuries, and defects that affect the head, neck, face, jaws and the hard tissues that surround those regions. In this field, Dr. Adibfar is among the best-of-the-best.

Being an expert in Feminizing Jaw and Chin Contouring allows Dr. Adibfar to provide his patients with the best preoperative assessments. In-depth clinical examinations and specific x-ray views determine the exact line of bone resection required. From this assessment, the incisions are planned. They are usually along the sulcus, between gum and cheek mucosa and they allow access to the prominent areas of the jaw bone.

The X-ray views allow us to create a template model that we use to determine the line of bone resection. This resection starts from the back area angle. It runs down to the angle with a slight curve and finally forward to join the chin area. This determines the prominent bone areas to be cut. The surgical process involves cutting with a surgical drill and micro-saw; the bone is shaped down from back to front achieving a nicely rounded contour effect. The resulting look is a feminine jawline connection that has a natural curve, forwarded to join the chin area without stepping.
